Guy Porat – Conductor / Oboist
Music Director of the Raanana Youth Symphony, Guy Porat has conducted the Oklahoma Symphony, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony, the Raanana Symphonette, the MusicaRIVA Festival Orchestra, the Balkan Chamber-Academy in Belgrade and the Montenegro Symphony. Future engagements include returning performances with the Israel Chamber Orchestra and a debut with the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra.
Oboe Prof. at the Raanana Music Centerand previously at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Porat heads the Tomorrow's Soloists Program and dedicates considerable time to fostering young talents.
Former Principal Oboe of the Budapest Festival Orchestra (Ivan Fischer) and the Filarmonica Toscanini (Lorin Maazel) he cooperated with Abbado, Ozawa, Boulez, Mehta& others. An acclaimed international oboist, Guy Porat studied conducting with Sheldon Morgenstern in Geneva, attended masterclasses with Isaac Karabtchevsky and Jorma Panula and was invited to the Aspen Music Festival.
Together with Maurice Bourgue he edited the New Edition of the Martinu Oboe Concerto, praised by Das Orchester Magazine, the premiere of which he conducted at the IDRS Conference in 2010, with soloist Nicholas Daniel. GuyPorat is active as conductor, soloist, chamber-music coach and jury member in renowned Festivals and Int. competitions worldwide.
